Entering the bamboo forest portion of the trail was cool and still warm at the same time; the hollow bamboo stalks bumped into each other and swayed in the wind causing a sort of echoing song. Ironwood trees with twisty branches looked for the sun amidst the young, thick bamboo grown up all around their older, sturdy trunks.
